Pune: After a brief lull, the rainfall activity has taken in the state, with the Meteorology Department of India issued a heavy rain warning in remote places in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha until Wednesday.
IMD said Pune City is likely to experience minor rainfall to moderate, with severe spells in the District Ghat section until Thursday, after that some of the conditions are cloudy with isolated very lightly against the rain.
Anupam Kashyapi, Head of Weather Forecasting at IMD Pune, told Ti that a trough of the cyclone circulation above the East Rajasthan to the Northeast Arab Sea throughout Gujarat affected the weather in Maharashtra.
“This causes a strong monsoon condition in North Konkan and North Madhya Maharashtra.
The system tends to last for three days,” Kashyapi.
In addition, other systems that cause rain covering the rainy season to the south of their normal position and strong western wind blowing from the Arab Sea, attracting moisture to Maharashtra.
Furthermore, Kashyapi said the low-pressure area in the southern part of West Bengal and Environmental Gangetic, with circulation of the relevant cycles elongated to the level of intermediate troposphere which tilted west-west, causing rain in Vidarbha.
“This system is likely to weaken in a few days and move west-to-west as cyclone circulation in North Odisha, North Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh in the next three days,” Kashyapi said.
“At 1 pm on Tuesday, the large mass of the clouds looked above Mumbai, who traveled to Pune.
So, there was a chance of rain until it was in Pune City.
However, the rain in Maharashtra will lose steam after Thursday,” Kashyapi said.
