Mumbai: IMD issued an orange warning (heavy to heavy rain) in several places from Tuesday for Thane and Palghar.
Mumbai is expected to witness heavy rains from Wednesday, said IMD, adding that wet spells are expected until the weekend.
Shubhangi Bhute, Scientists, IMD, said, “In 2-3 days, Konkan Utara (including Mumbai, Thane) is expected to witness heavy rain.
This is caused by a low-pressure area located above the northwest and side by side of the West Bay, outside South Odisha, North Coast Andhra Pradesh.
“There was no significant rain on Monday, with IMD Santacruz recording 0.4mm in nine hours ending 5.30pm.
Within 24 hours 8:30 a.m.
on Monday, IMD Colaba recorded light rain (4.5mm) and IMD Santacruz 6.4mm.
Mumbai is on a yellow warning for Tuesday (heavy rain in isolated places is very possible).
Isolated rain spells see a maximum temperature increase to more than 30 degrees Celsius in the city.
Stock on the lake touched 92.22% on Monday.
