Residents who had stepped out for various reasons have a hard time reaching their homes, because of the continuous rain for more than four hours starting at 19:30.
The city streets are filled with rain water, which reached the traffic flow.
When the vehicle is moving at a snail’s pace, snow traffic is a common sight in the streets flooded on Monday night.
Some roads remain submerged on Tuesday as well, adding to commuter woes.
While the fire and rescue service personnel kept on high alert throughout the night, corporate employees work tirelessly to carry water from the street.
City witnessed intermittent rain on Tuesday as well.
A tree was removed in rain-related disasters in the road race on Monday night.
Corporate workers quickly remove the tree from the road and restore the movement of the vehicle.
Selvapuram bypass roads submerged after Piakulam Ukkadam lake overflowed.
Narikurava Colony in Kovaipudur Avinashi Flyover and Underpass also flooded with rainwater, throwing life.
“The movement of traffic often comes to the forth and around Avinashi Road,” said a source with the City Corporation.

Coimbatore South received the highest rainfall of 52mm, followed by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Area (51mm), Sulur and Pollachi (each 35mm), Mettupalayam (29mm), Airport Area (26mm), Chinnakalar (19.20mm), PN Palayam (14:20 mm) and Aliyar (11mm).
Area Annur, Valparai and Cincona only received less than 10mm Rain.
