Heavy snow causes a chaos of travel in Japan

Tokyo: Thick snow causes traffic congestion, flight cancellation, and disruption to train services in Central Japan on Monday, with a record of drift recorded in several regions.
More than 3,200 households have been left without strength in the region, according to Kansai Electric Power, because officials warn more snow estimated last night.
There was no injury or death because the frozen weather has not been confirmed, Government spokesman Hirokazu Matsuno said.
“Strong winter pressure patterns cause thick snow, especially throughout the sea side of Japan from the northern state to West Japan, with several areas that experience snow records,” Matsuno said.
“The amount of snow is expected to increase tomorrow …
the increase in caution and vigilance is still needed.” The main road in the Shiga region was closed “because of a stranded vehicle”, said Matsuno, with a TV footage that showed a long line of stationary cars which then began to move.
Snarl-up traffic reportedly started when a truck slipped near Hikone City, where snow was 68 centimeters (26 inches) fell in 24 hours until this morning – 30 times deeper than average – according to public broadcasting NHK.
Nearly 200 passengers had snow overnight on the local train line in the region, NHK said.
One image from the train train posted on Twitter showed a large stack of fresh powder between the two open doors as the station lights on the night sky.
About 130 domestic flights were canceled on Sundays because of snow, said Jiji Press, with NHK reported about 50 cancellations on Monday.
