Ghaziabad: Indian Medical Association (National Head Office) has criticized the government’s decision to provide compensation of Rs 50 Lakh to only private doctors who died because Covid in the hospital was appointed.
They said it was discriminatory and 1,700 doctors whose list they gave to the government, only 180 received compensation so far.
National President Dr.
Jayalal and National Secretary Dr.
Jayesh M Lele, who came to Ghaziabad to review the function of the local branch, said they would fight this problem at the Supreme Court.
Dr.
Lele said, “Until December 2020, 780 doctors had died but the government did not have a list.
In February, a question was raised in parliament about this but the government said unconscious.
It comes to IMA to get a list.
Next, in the second wave , 700 other doctors lost their lives.
“Dr.
Jayalal added that many hospitals became Covid facilities specifically only in government instructions.
“At least they must be recognized as a covid martyr,” he said.
It is one thing the government must provide financial assistance to the families of the doctors, but at least the government must realize that they died because of Covid, he added.
Officials said they would take up problems related to hospital registration with the upper government.
They expressed a surprise on the license issued for a year to a private clinic in Ghaziabad.
Dr.
Jayalal said it was news for him.
“Private hospitals are given a five-year license in another state.
IMA National will hold talks with the government upon this matter,” he added.
