Coimbatore: O Saravanan, a sanitation supervisor who works with Coimbatore Corporation, lost his wife to Covid-19 in May.
He could not get out of his sadness even after a month and struggled to carry out everyday activities, including his work.
His friend advised him to concentrate on the things he liked the most.
Saravanan did it by planting herbal plants in his office at Ward 71.
Seeing this, sanitation workers helped him gardening and the number of plants in the park increased.
Milk, Saravanan installed a fence and set the shade of a green garden to protect plants.
Now, the garden has 30 varieties of herbal plants purchased from different places.
Saravanan has taken itself to create awareness to utilize the best space around the house and terrace for the park.
Apart from visitors, pedestrian pedestrians and morning asked about parks and Saravanan patiently bringing home a message for each.
He used his free time to care for plants and some sanitation workers volunteered to help him work.
“I brought some plants from the roadside inside and around the city.
I have bought a few rare from the forestry office.
There are many medicinal plants available around us, but we fail to pay attention to them,” Saravanan said.
While some plants can be used by diabetes patients, some can be used to treat knee pain.
There are plants available for treating toxic bites.
This is a treasure identified by ancestors and is our duty to educate the next generation of their imports, he said.
Saravanan also changed household waste into fertilizers using plastic containers on the same campus.
He utilizes dirt in the garden.
“I also talked about the separation of waste.
Separate waste can be used to produce organic fertilizer.
People must follow this method in their home to handle waste itself.
In this way people can reduce the burden on the body of Civic,” he said.
