Heritage Xperiential Learning School fee hike: Panel seeks report on action taken
Written by news2in

GURUGRAM: Taking cognisance of complaints filed by parents of children studying at Heritage Xperiential Learning School about “unjustified” fee hike, the Fee and Funds Regulatory Committee (FFRC) has asked the education department to take appropriate action and resolve the matter.
On Wednesday, the FFRC sent a letter to the education department and it has been given three days to investigate the matter and submit the report.
“It is the second letter that has been issued in a month.
We haven’t got any response from the department.
Unless the department completes the investigation and submits its findings, we can’t do anything,” said an FFRC official.
The school has been accused of arbitrarily increasing its fee and not being transparent in the process.
“It is not that the school has not considered requests for rebates.
But the manner in which the fee has been hiked has irked many parents,” said parent Tripti Singh, administrator of a Facebook forum called Gurugram Parents for Better Education.
The school, however, said it has been compliant when it comes to all orders.
“We have given 10% concession to all, although there is no such government directive.
We have also offered additional rebates to every parent who reached out to us individually.
While most people have paid up, we have not let non-payment impact a single child,” said Neena Kaul, the principal of Heritage Xperiential Learning School.
Education department officials said they will file the report soon.
However, it will be difficult to take any action as there has been no government direction on fee hike.
“The restriction on hike was only for the last session that ended in March.
A Supreme Court order in March allowed schools to charge full fee and it did not mention any curbs.
In the absence of any direction, we can’t take action against a school.
We will try to resolve the matter,” an official said.
