New Delhi: Heroin worth RS 90 Crore was confiscated from two ladies noted, who came to India as a medical tourist, at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi, an official statement released on Saturday.
Officers confiscated a 12.9kg hero from two passengers who had arrived from Nairobi, Kenya through Abu Dhabi during the night intervention 12 and 13 November, he said.
The value of narcotics that was confiscated was approximately pegged at RS 90 Crore in accordance with the applicable international price, the customs department said in the statement.
Narcotics and smugglers have passed several jurisdictions, including Uganda, Kenya and India, before being intercepted, he said, adding that the heroin was hidden in the fake cavity of their check-in suitcases.
The luggage of the passengers also fell by Canine forces from Indian Customs which was placed at Delhi airport and they indicated the existence of several narcotics in the trunk, said the statement.
In the search and personal questions and detailed baggage, female passengers claimed to have brought heroes in the luggage check-in they cleverly hid it in the cavity made under a fake layer of plastic base on both sides of the suitcase, it said.
It is packed vacuum in a plastic bag and paper that contains a form of crystal powder or white heroin granules, the statement said.
As long as it was questioned, one of the passengers of women revealed that he was introduced to Kenyan residents, who had promised to compensate for the shipment of certain items in Delhi, he said.
Thus, at this invitation, he traveled to Nairobi from Kampala through the road where Kenya submitted a bag to be sent in Delhi while also providing tickets and documents to cover his visit as a medical tourist, the statement said.
“He should send items to someone who will contact him when he comes out.
When he was intercepted by customs officials, he was found to have a bag with a bottom / fake cavity where 5.4kg hidden heroin,” it said.
Other female passengers were also intercepted in the same flight in almost similar ways where it was found to have two bags with a fake cavity containing cumulative 7.5 kg hidden heroin.
“As long as the question of its predecessor, the female passenger revealed that he was sent by his sister from Kampala to Nairobi through the highway and from there to Delhi through Abu Dhabi with the flight mentioned above.
These passengers also have certain documents to falsify medical profiles.

The success of fighting the threat of drug smuggling came after the previous seizure of around 3 kg of heroin recovered from Kenyan residents who had arrived at night intervention 28 and 29 October from Nairobi through Sharjah, he said.
In April this year, two Indian citizens, who came from Uganda, were intercepted with 2 kg of heroin where investigations resulted in identifying three people accused of being more based in Uganda.
In this calendar year, Delhi’s habit has captured more than 100kg of heroin and captures more than 26 people.
