Raigad: Dri has confiscated around 300 kg of Heroin worth RS 879 Crore allegedly smuggled from Afghanistan and arrested one person in this relationship at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in neighboring countries Raigad, officials said on Sundays.
Contraband, confiscated on Thursday, is one of the main narcotics seizures in several times, they said.
The consignment, allegedly smuggled from Afghanistan through Iran, was declared a gypsum stone and powder talcum, an official from the Income Intelligence Directorate (DRI).
The import-export code is in the name of Prabhjot Singh and the consignment should be sent to Punjab, he said.
Singh was arrested after the occurrence of smuggling, the official said, added that the defendant imported Gypsum and powder powder through JNPT for the past year.
In August last year, Customs Mumbai and DRI confiscated 191 kg heroin worth around RS 1,000 Crore, declared the ‘Ayurvedic drug’ and was also believed to originate from Afghanistan, from the cargo container in JNPT, the previous official said.
