Nagpur: A 58-year-old Hansapuri resident declared dead at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) on Saturday afternoon, about two hours after he took the second dose of the covishield at the local urban primary health center (UPHC).
, The incident has been recorded as a bad event after immunization (AEFI) on the co-win system, even though the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has not shown this in the vaccination data.
The Civic’s body has told the government, and so far given it only as ‘Alleged AEFI’s death’ on the grounds that last 30 minutes after inoculation.
One AEFI respectively was recorded on June 28 and July 1 in the district, which has floated between the recording vaccination numbers and no dose.
Details of the other two AEFIS are not available.
The case of Saturday was the first death reported and was recorded as AEFI in Nagpur since the start of the vaccination drive in January this year.
The deceased has allegedly hid the history of chest pain before taking the second dose, the claim of officials.
The deceased was rushed to IgGMch by relatives, which was originally reluctant to give approval for Post Mortem.
Relatives described guidelines for deaths that occur within 72 hours of vaccination and then they agree.
According to the central government guidelines, Post Mortem (PM) is mandatory if the recipient dies after vaccination.
According to the guideline, IgGMch performs PM before two forensic experts and one pathology next to the video record.
Histopathological reports will also be prepared, which may require time, said the IGGGMCH forensic medical department official.
