New Delhi: After concern over the high level of Covid-19 in the northeastern state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the main ministers of eight states on Tuesday to discuss situations and steps to control infection.
Even as the overall weekly weekly peposititiveness has dropped to 2.32%, most of the states in the northeast have many districts with the level of participation above 10%.
Arunachal Pradesh led the list with 10 districts above the 10% frontpiece while Manipur had nine, Meghalaya six, Assam and Sikkim four respectively, Tripura Three, Mizoram Two and Nagaland had one district with more than 10% participation.
Sustainable high infection rates in certain countries, including those in the Region Ne and increased expenses in Kerala and Maharashtra, also an impact on the level of decline that have slowed over the past three weeks with new cases that stagnate around 40,000.
The center was worried because similar trends were witnessed before the second wave hit, when cases began to rise with countries such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab and Kerala.
The meeting will take place through video conferencing at 11 o’clock in the morning.
Countries that will be part of the meeting are Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
Representatives from the Ministry of Health, Niti Aayog, the Ministry of Home and other related ministries will also be present at the meeting, an official said.
Although there is a stable decline in the overall Covid-19 burden throughout the country, the northeastern region has become a cause of concern, as is Kerala, because the number of cases rises or does not fall in line with national trends.
Cases fell in Maharashtra but infections remained stubborn in several western part of the state.
With a total of 37,154 new cases reported from all over the country on Sunday, the total active active case in the country stood around 4.50 lakh cases.
