Jaipur: The increase in fuel prices has reduced festive enthusiasm for transporters who claim that their income is only 40% of pre-covid days.
While pandemics have played roles, diesel prices skyrocketed in short intervals have made them unfortunate and with negligible benefits, heavy rued vehicle operators.
Anil Arora, President, the Jaipur Transporter Association, said, “While we are still getting a business, income has been reduced dramatically.
Even though the pandemic has played a role, we cannot fully blame it because it is a global problem and not only limited to us.
Diesel prices, On the other hand, it really forces us to find ways to reduce additional expenditure.
Because of rising rampant fuel prices, prices of other materials such as tires, lubricants, etc., have also ride so we really beat all sides.
” The owner of the fuel pump has faced losses because high VAT imposed on gasoline and diesel in Rajasthan compared to neighboring countries.
While there are 36% of VAT on Diesel, gasoline has 26% VAT.
Transporter claims that because of the festival season, they cannot protest fuel prices because they will cause their own losses.
“Every heavy vehicle operator wants that the truck must be on the road to cover the cost of maintenance, emis, insurance, staff salaries, etc.
For this, even if the operator must reduce transportation costs, he is willing to do so that does not happen before because there are certain types of uniformity in Rates, “said a transporter.
