NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader Chidambaram on Monday reported the reason behind the large inflation in the nation is that the daily increase in gas and diesel rates.
His remarks came on a day after retail earnings climbed to 6.3 percent in May, exceeding the RBI’s comfort level, to the rear of more expensive food items.

CPI Inflation is 6.3 percent.
Would you need to understand why? Gas and Electricity inflation is 37.61 percent.
Because of PM Modi increasing gasoline and diesel prices daily,” Chidambaram said on Twitter.
“Food inflation is 6.3 percent.
Have you any idea why? Pulses inflation is currently 9.39 percentage.
Indices oil inflation is 30 percentage.
All these are really high marks for qualified financial management,” the former finance ministry included.
The wholesale price-based inflation accelerated to a list 12.94 percent in May, due to increasing costs of crude petroleum, manufactured products plus a very low base of this past year.
