Hijab-Saffron Shawl Line Lingers at Udupi Colleges

Mangaluru: Hijab-Saffron Shawl Controversy Continues on Monday with students in two junior colleges in Kundapur, the Udupi District tries to oppose the command of the uniform mandate set by the Government of Karnataka or manage each institution.
The State Education Department has issued orders on Saturday.
A group of students studying at Venkataramana College in Kundapur came in procession to college on Monday wearing a turmeric scarf.
They were prevented from entering the place by the principal and police personnel were there.
The students say they will wear scarves if the girls use headscarves are permitted in class.
They agreed to enter the classes who removed their scarves only after the principal convinced them that no student wearing a headscarf would be allowed to enter the classroom.
At the Government of PU College in Kundapur, the Principal spoke to Muslim female students who came wearing a headscarf and explained to them government orders.
When students continued to insist on wearing a headscarf, they were asked to go to a separate room arranged for them.
There was extensive criticism of the way the girls were made to protest outside the college gate last week.
