Himachal simplifies the norms to get a new power connection

Shimla: In a big assistance for consumers who submit a new electrical connection with a connected load or contract request of or less than 20 kw / kva, the Himachal Pradesh Limited State Electricity Agency (HPSBL) will not demand “no certificate of objection” from Pancrayat, Municipality or the authority of the development of the city and the country again.
The Himachal Pradesh electric regulation commission has carried out the fifth amendment in the Himachal Pradesh, 2009 electricity supply code, only makes two documents mandatory to apply for a new connection release in the state.
Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Chhavi Nanta Electric Regulation Commission said that the Commission had carried out the fifth amendment in its supply code, 2009, and the same published in Rajpatra, Himachal Pradesh, on January 21.
He said that to release new connections and shift connection services, now the applicant can register online through the HPSBL website.
However, if any applicant applies to an electrical connection by sending the application in the physical form to the HPSBL sub-division concerned, it will be the responsibility of the sub-division concerned to upload these documents on the HPSBL website.
He said that for new connections covered in a single section rate approved by the load / contract request that is connected or less than 20 kw / kva including the domestic category of consumers, only two required documents needed, including evidence of identity (ie passport, aadhar card, voter cards etc.) from the applicant; And proof of applicant’s ownership or occupancy for the expected place by new connections, regardless of the application form & test agreement and test report.
HPSBL cannot request another document for this category, he clarifies.
He said that for consumers included in the two parts of the tariff that have provided a request / contract sanction that is connected greater than 20 kw / kva, the list of required documents must be determined by the Commission.
However, until the commission time determines the list of documents, HPSBL will continue to entertain the application along with documents in accordance with the applicable practices followed by it.
He said that HPSBL was bound to provide new connections within 15 days in urban areas, within 20 days in rural areas and 30 days in remote areas since the date of settlement of all code formalities.
However, in cases where extension of distribution lines, new sub-stations etc.
are needed to release connections, the Commission has improved the schedule in the supply code.
He said that a consumer can shift his service connection to another place with certain conditions that have also been mentioned in the supply code.
The official added that HPSBL would also provide appropriate settings such as separate queues, sufficient seating settings, etc.
for senior citizens and citizens who are physically challenged who can visit the HPSEBL office.
