Himachal: The Center agrees to the Renuka Dam project

Dharamshala: The Union Cabinet has approved the Renuka Dam project as part of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Saknhayee Yojana (PMKSY).
Renuka Dam is a national project conceived as a storage project on the Giri River, Yamuna River, in the Smeachal Pradesh district.
Chairman of the Minister of Jai Ram Thakur thanked the Government Government for the agreement.
He said that in 2009, this center had told the “National Project” scheme to advance projects that were stuck long because of disputes between countries and Renuka Dam projects included in the scheme.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the detailed project report (DPR) the project was again accepted by the Technical Advisory Committee in 2015 at a cost of 4,596.76 crore, however, because it did not sign an agreement between states, the project could not be taken.
Jai Ram Thakur said that after a strong pursuit by the Indian government the inter-state agreement was signed between six recipient countries – Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh on January 9, 2019.
He said that after signing the agreement, the DPR Once again accepted by the Ministry of Jal Shakti on December 9, 2019 for the total cost of Rs 6,946.99 Crore.
The minister’s chairman said that the project imagined the construction of a 148 meter high Rockfill Dam, which would store the release of the rainy season that was not used, causing a 24 km long reservoir formation.
He said that the storage of live dams would be 498 million cubic meters to be used to supply drinking water @ 23 cubic meters per second to Delhi’s national capital region.
He said that it would also produce 200 million electricity units at the house of the surface power with an installed capacity of 40MW which will be used by the state government.
He said that project development is expected to begin in December next year and will be completed in six years.
He said that the cat plan worked with total expenditure of Rs.
160.34 Crore will be made to improve the health of water catches.
After commissioning 1% of annual income will be distributed in the affected area every year, he added.
