Shimla: Three tourists including a woman from Mumbai and Goa died in a high snow slide area in the Kinnaur district while the other 10 was saved safely on Sunday.
Group 13 tourists were trekking from Janglik in the Rohru Sub-Division of Shimla District to Sangla in Kinnaur District through Burua-Kanda when they were left stranded in the snow which resulted in the death of 3 group members.
In one week a total of 10 tourists have been found dead in the middle of the snow in the Kinnaur district.
Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur, Apoorva Devgan said today that 13 tourists came from Janglik Rohru in the Shimla district to Sangla through Burua-Kanda in Kinnaur.
He said that because of bad weather conditions and snow down, 3 of these tourists died on the road.
He said that as soon as the information was received, the work of assistance and rescue began by the administration of Kinnaur Regency.
He said that the police team had been sent to Barua-Kanda to save 10 tourists and in the afternoon, all 10 tourists were safely evacuated and taken to Karchham.
He said that the ITBP personnel team was sent to the place to bring three bodies.
According to information received at the district headquarters, all of these tourists include a woman belonging to Mumbai and Goa.
To avoid unwanted events, deputy commissioners have asked all tourists and others come to Kinnaur Regency not to visit high altitude areas in the district due to bad weather and snow.
He also asked the district residents to get out of their homes only if absolutely necessary and took precautions because there was a threat of rock shooting because of rain.
He said that the search was tracking the two lost tourists who were part of the 11 group members from Harsil at Utttrakhand against Chhitkul in Kinnaur.
The group of 11 members was left stranded in the snow in Lamkhaga Pass and when rescue surgery was launched at first 5 bodies restored and two people were saved while 4 lost.
Then two more trekkers were found dead when the search continued for the remaining two lost trekkers.
