Manali: Record 7,276 vehicles, most of them bring tourists, using the Atal tunnel in Rohtang between Sunday 8 in the morning and Monday 8 in the morning.
The tunnel did not witness a high traffic burden since the inauguration on October 3 last year.
Starting on Sunday morning, 3,848 vehicles entered the tunnel from the southern portal in the Kullu district and 3,428 vehicles entered from the North Portal in Lahaul-Spiti Regency.
While almost 90% of vehicles belonging to tourists, the rest is local vehicles, buses and operator goods.
Tourists came to experience the tunnel, visit Lahaul Valley, Spiti Valley and those who headed for Ladakh.

The majority of vehicles entering the tunnel from both sides is tourist vehicles.
Traffic further shifts to Ladakh, Lahaul, Spitan and Valley Pang District Chamba.
To avoid congestion Traffic, we do not allow vehicles to park on highways and tourists are allowed to park in a well-appointed room.

The police did not allow parking on the portal while the movement in the tunnel was being monitored by a security camera.
Warning signs have been placed outside the tunnel stating that stop the vehicle in the tunnel is a violation.
Meanwhile, tunnel management regularly monitors the level of pollution in the tunnel.
The tunnel will remain closed for maintenance for three hours from 9pm on Tuesday night.
