New Delhi: Minister of Home Union Amit Shah on Tuesday said Hindi was a friend of Indian regional language and they all had to be promoted and encouraged.
Overcoming the function on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Shah also appealed to parents to communicate with their children at home in their mother tongue even if they study in English high school.
If not, the children will be cut off from the roots, he said.
“Hindi has no difference in any regional language.
Hindi is ‘Sakhi’ (friends) of all Indian regional languages,” he said.

Shah said all Indian regional languages complement and overall Hindi and all regional languages must be promoted and encouraged.
Since 2014, more parliamentarians speak in their own regional language in parliament and they are translated verbatim into English and Hindi, he said and added that this has helped representatives to highlight their respective problems in the highest forum.
The Minister of Home Affairs said people should not only ‘Atma Nirbhar’ (Mandiri) in producing goods but also for languages.
He quoted the example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi only to speak in Hindi in all international forums to convey his mind.
“Doubt on Hindi is a passse,” he said.
Referring to the new education policy (NEP) estimated by Modi, Shah said it has provisions for regional and hindi language promotions.
In dealing with the situation of the pandemic, he said India had succeeded in handling Covid-19 with minimum damage due to the joint efforts of the central and state government and with the active collaboration of 130 popular crores.
The prime minister, every time he spoke to the nation, talked to all stakeholders – doctors, experts and others – in Hindi which resulted in the message to reach the grassroots level, he said.
