Coimbatore: Police Commissioner Pradip Kumar has detained two Hindu workers Munnani, who was arrested for tarnishing the statue of Periyar EV Ramasamy in Vellalore a few days ago, under the Law Goonda.
A police officer said V Arunkarthik 26 years old, a 28-year-old Autorickshaw driver, and V Mohanraj, both residents of Vellalore, have tarnished the statue in front of the Periyit Study Center in the January 9 region with Garlanding It with a pair of sandals and smearing turmeric powder on his head .
Podanur police then registered the case and arrested both on January 11 and invited them in the Ceimbatore center prison.
“They prepared a detailed report on the duo to create tensions between two parts of society and asked the city police commissioner to hold them under the GOONDAS law.” Pradip Kumar held them under the action on Monday and a copy of the order was served on them in the city center prison.
