New Delhi: To anticipate the third wave of Covid-19, the corporation of Municipal North Delhi will develop an RT-PCR inhouse laboratory which can serve its fever clinic.
Until now, the sample was collected at a fever clinic and was sent to the National Disease Control Center.
TII previously reported how tests even health workers were delayed because of the long condiment in NCDC.
The chairman of the permanent committee from the Civic Agency, Jogi Ram Jain, said that the laboratory would provide assistance to a large number of residents and patients who visited the largest city hospital.
“The Lab and the RT-PCR test center will be opened at Hindu Rao Hospital.
The site’s electrification work is likely to be completed on Friday,” he added.
So far, there is no city hospital that has an in-house RT-PCR testing facility.
“Based on feedback from people, we have decided to open the RT-PCR center in the building’s main role building.
We hope that the machine for testing will be set on Sunday,” Jain said.
A citizenship official said that the center would be able to carry out the test next week.
The official was further said that initially the RT-PCR center would be able to test 200 individuals every day.
“Most patients who come to Rao Hindu Hospital for care comes from an economically vulnerable background and they cannot afford private laboratories.
This facility will provide assistance to patients like that,” the official said.
“We previously started a collection of samples at a dedicated fever clinic in the Covid section.
Samples were sent to NCDC and will take 3-4 days for the results.
At some point, when NCDC is overwhelmed with the sample, the testing time has increased further.” Jain said that Similar facilities will then be developed in Babu and Kastba Hospitals.
