Aperar: An NGO, Jago India Jago, has alleged that Hisar Municipal Corporation (MC) and the Public Works Department (PWD) submitted false affidavit in their case filed in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to eliminate concrete blocks and pavers installed around the tree in the city.
The city commissioner denied the allegations.
Jiterendra Arya, Founder of Jago India Jago, said in December 2019, a complaint was given to NGT to eliminate the concrete block and Paver around the trees in the city of Hisar.
Taking knowing this, NGT is a three-department committee where the forest department, MC and Pollution Control (PCB) are involved.
PCB is appointed as a nodal body regarding orders compliance and to report the status of the tree, he said.
Arya said the MC wrote a letter on February 25, 2020, via PCB, to NGT and claimed that they removed concrete blocks and 40% pavers of the tree.
The Ministry of Building and Jalan PWD also claimed in his letter that 90% of trees in accordance with NGT guidelines and the remaining 10% of the work will be done soon, he said “on March 18, 2020, MC told NGT which corresponded to the compliance of court orders, concrete blocks and pavers around around Trees have been removed and NGT orders will be followed in the future.
NGT closed the case on March 19, 2020, “he said.
Arya said she was now submitting a case against these departments under the Section 25 (execution), 26 (penalty for failure to comply with court orders) and 28 (violations by the Government Department) from NGT ACT for non-compliance and implementation of NGT orders.
He claims that this is claimed to be a lie.
However, the Commissioner of Ashok Kumar Kumar Garg said the affidavit was given at NGT correctly.
“Concrete and beams are left around several trees, now orders have been given to delete them too,” he said.
The problem caused by Paving PavementThe Hisar Municipal Corporation (MC) spent Rs 2.27 Crore to open the path in the city.
While Paving Footpath, the concrete block and Paver are placed around the tree.
