Hit with Mucor immediately after marriage, 27-year-old waiting facelift

Nagpur: Archana (name changed) married for four months when Mukormycosis left his face defective.
The 27-year-old child is now waiting for a doctor to improve permanent prosthetics that can bring back his appearance and along with normal life.
It might take about three months to finally be ready.
The doctors were working to make exactly the same implants with his previous appearance.
A professional posted in Mumbai, he is now recovering in Chandrapur.
By the way an archaeologist or anthropologist will use a fixed skeletal to create a possible appearance of someone who dies a centuries ago, a 3-D image from Archana’s face will be produced on a computer program.
Based on it, bones with the same size are removed because mukormycosis will be made.
This is called a facial stereolitographic model that will provide the right dimensions to make prosthetics, the doctor said and add that Archana might look the same or very close to him.
For Archana, the entire process costs RS1.5 Lakh and has been borne because of insurance too.
Technology is known even though it is not a common procedure like that, the doctor now tries it for mucormicosis patients whose face bones have been removed.
“The procedure usually occurs in the case of a severe injury or gunshot wound,” said a doctor.
With a new Musormycosis even for doctors, it is expected that customized prosthetics can bring rays of hope for a number of patients such as Archana.
Dr.
Vipin Dehue from the Kingsway Hospital who treated Archana said that in his case it was not only a maxillary (the upper jawbone) but even the ceilingbone (the part touching the tongue from the top side) removed leaving the hole above.
“Given his age, getting a restored face is the first priority,” he said.
He further said that conventional dental implants set on the maxilla, which was removed in this case, which leads to the need to create new bones that match the original appearance.
Archana said that it initially left the psychological impact on him.
“I got married in January and in April I received because Covid.
I also felt a severe jaw pain at that time.
After going to the dentist first, finally it was confirmed that it was a mukormycosis,” he said.
Being able to speak clearly, he now puts denture.
“His face is not exactly the same.
Luxility will go only after a permanent implant is included,” Archana said put a brave face.
According to Dr.
Dehue, one year 25 years old, 25-year-old formed Madhya Pradesh will also undergo the same procedure.
This procedure has been adopted for a number of other patients as well.
Dr.
Raman Bonde from Amravati said that he had operated as many as 50 patients with mukormycotic infections.
“Now, the restoration procedure will begin,” he said.
“The stereolitographic model is usually used for severe injury patients or gunfire.
It is expected to work operated for mucormycosis as well.
Only time will tell how successful this method is in the long term,” he said.
Dr.
Rahul Atara, an endodontist who is part of the team, said that this method was not too popular but conventional implants did not work in patients.
“After a little study, it was found suitable for mukormycosis patients.
This is an established procedure but doesn’t try a lot here,” he said.
