Hitchour hits Train Traffic in Kasara Ghat

Mumbai: Train Traffic between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at Mumbai Station and South Kasara from Central Railway (CR), more than 100 km away, returned on Thursday afternoon, 17 hours after a portion of the track was washed due to heavy rain, said one Official.
Remote train traffic will take time to continue and the bus has been set to transport stranded passengers, he added.
The train service between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kasara was restored around 3pm, said Shivaji Sutar, spokesman’s head, CR.
The track near the Umbermi Station in the Washed Titwala-Kasara section was restored around 11am, but because the river flowed above the danger, the operation in the section could not be acted again, he said.
When heavy rains all night, the Mudslide and Batu fallen incidents were reported in five or six locations in the stretch of 14 km Ghat (Hill) among Kasara and Igatpuri.
The train for North and East India from Mumbai traveled through Kasara Ghat.
One Excavator Poclain, two JCBS, 12 stone cars and around 210 workers were deployed along Ghat since morning to recover operations, a CR spokesman said.
“Ghat doesn’t have a way of approach.
Heavy rain and damage in various locations that make the engine operation more difficult,” Sutar said.
Train traffic on the bottom line and above will likely be restored at night, while the center line will take longer, he added.
Three trains trapped in the Casara Ghat section were taken to Igatpuri, while CR also arranged the MSRTC bus, the state transportation business, for passengers stranded.
A total of 29 buses carry 1,290 passengers from Kasara to Kalyan while 44 buses are arranged to take 2,860 passengers from Igatpuri to Kalyan.
Suburban train services from the central train are operated only to Titwala Station and Ambernate in the Thane District of CSMT in South Mumbai since Wednesday night.
Operation from Titwala to Igatpuri in Nashik and Ambernath district to Lonavala in Pune District was suspended at the end of Wednesday night.
Around 10:15 a.m., CR suspended traffic between Titwala and Igatpuri followed a heavy water logging on the track near the Umbermal Station.
Then, at 12:20 a.m., CR suspended traffic between Ambernath and Lonavala when the flood took place near the Vangangan station, about 90 km from Mumbai.
Kasara recorded around 138 mm rainfall in four hours from 9pm on Wednesday, while Lonavala and Karjat recorded rainfall of 142 mm and 129.1 mm from midnight until 7am on Thursday.
CR suburban services at the harbor, the Trans-Harbor lane and belapur-kharkopar walked on schedule.
Local train services on the route Western train were also affected by tracking the failure of the changing spot in Churchgate in South Mumbai on Thursday morning, a spokesman said.
The problem was completed at around 7:30 a.m.
and the operation was restored.
