Srinagar: The terrorist commander of the terrorist Hezbul Mujahidin was killed in a meeting denied by South Kulgalam on Saturday, police said.
“A team with police, soldiers and CRPF launched Cordon operations and searches (Caso) in specific information about the existence of terrorists in Ashmuji Village in Kulgam District,” said a senior police officer.
He said that because the presence of terrorists was confirmed, efforts were made to evacuate civilians in the area and the message of submission was forwarded to terrorists hiding, which he refused.
The official said that as a team of shared troops approached a suspected place, terrorists opened fire on them, which led to meetings.
In the next shooting, terrorists, identified as Mudasir Ahmad Warkay, the Commander of the Hizbul District Mujahidin was killed, he said.
A police spokesman said Warkay had been active since 2018.
It was the third meeting in the district in the last four days.
Previously, on Wednesday, five terrorists were killed in two separate meetings in the Gopalpora and Pombai regions in the district.
