Bhubaneswar: Head of Minister of Naveen Patnen Patnaik to sponsor Indian Hockey for 10 years has been welcomed not only by the players, but the brotherhood of hockey in the state too.
When the State Government of the Hockey Star for their spectacular performances at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday, Naveen announced the decision to sponsor men and women for 10 years, extending the partnership outside 2023.
Hockey Legend Dilip Tirkey said the announcement was the right step to restore the glory of hockey .
“It’s a historic decision by our main minister.
The Odisha government has extended great support to the Hockey team and women in recent years.
This is not just about sponsors, players are equipped with the best infrastructure, guidance and best exposure.
Recent announcements will Motivating and encouraging our players to bring more glory to the country, “said Tirkey.
Appreciating the decision, the Lazarus Barla Olympic Hockey said he would take hockey to new heights.
“The Odisha government extends support to Indian Hockey when most need.
All facilities are given to the players and the results of men and women in front of us.
Extending further support is a big step and example for other countries to imitate the same thing in other sports,” said Barla.
Those involved in grassroots also praised the decision of the minister’s chairman.
Milton Bilung, Sundargarh District Sports Officer and Senior Hockey coach said, “Young players will be motivated because of the state government’s decision and aspire to play for the country.”
