NAGPUR: CBSE on Monday told schools that students need not be called on campus for Std XII practical exams.
The circular signed by controller of examination (CoE) Sanyam Bhardwaj directs all schools to conduct pending practicals/assessments in online mode only.
The deadline for schools to upload marks has been extended till June 28.
TOI had reported the matter on June 4 itself.
For practical exams, the external examiner will take viva-voce of the student in online mode with the internal examiner also present on screen.
A screenshot of all three has to be taken by the school as proof of the test being conducted.
Students have to be informed of the online exam date “well in advance”, though the actual link shall be given only on exam day.

Parents welcomed the decision by CBSE, but added that it came a bit late in the day.
Sarosh Lodhi, a parent, said, “Majority of the practicals tests have already been completed, still I appreciate the board making this official.
While schools were taking all precautions during conduct of practicals, as parents we are naturally concerned about their safety.”
Another parent, who did not wish to be identified as he’s at a prominent position in a central government institution, said, “At such times, we need to be thinking ahead of the curve.
Even I work for the government and understand that there are bureaucratic delays, but I just don’t see why CBSE did not simply put practical exams on hold the day they announced cancellation of theory exams.
I think hardly one or two practical exams/assessments are now left anyway.”
CBSE too noted that many schools have finished their assessments, hence, the immediate focus was on those who still had a few left.
“It has been observed that some schools have not been able to complete their school-based assessments due to the pandemic”, Bhardwaj noted in the circular.
“Thus, the schools with pending practicals/internal assessments are permitted to conduct the same now in only online mode,” Bhardwaj added.
