Ahmedabad: A 28-year-old man from Shahpur, who works as a Jawan’s house keeper and also runs a shop that sells tailor in Gheeekanta, was arrested by the city crime branch for allegedly killing his girlfriend after he demanded Rs 10 Lakh.
He had killed him and mutilated his face to identify him and throw his body on the banks of the Sabarmati River near the series of Vastries.
The defendant, Hitesh Shrimali, claimed to be to the police that the deceased, Manha Chaudhari, 30, a Kalupur resident, has become an employee and they are in a relationship for about five years.
When the wife Shrimali learned about her relationship, she went to her parents around six months ago.
Meanwhile, he fell in love with another woman, found Chaudhari and began fighting with him.
Shrimali told the police that he began to demand Rs 10 lakh and said he would then start living with him.
Shrimali also said that he threatened to file a complaint of rape if he did not pay the money.
Shrimali then decided to kill him.
Around 4 in the morning on July 5, he went to his house and told him to come with him to get on the banks of the river.
Chaudhari Sat Pilion with Shrimali, who took him to Dhobighat near Vasna Barrage under the Ambedkar bridge.
He first hit him with a stone on his head, causing him to go unconscious.
He then hit his face and threw it into the river.
The crime branch has arrested him and will hand it over to the Sabarmati Riverfront police (East), who has accused him of murder.
