Patna: Bihar government has told the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) that had paid Rs 3 to 9 lakh each to 49 victims of sexual abuse in the home shelter in Muzaffarpur.
“The actions taken by the state government revealed that FIR No.
33/2018 under section 120B, 376 and 34 of IPC, reinforced with sections 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 of the Police Station Mazaffarpur, was registered on May 31, 2018, and then , the investigation was transferred to the Central Bureau of investigation (CBI).
After the investigation, a chargesheet filed against 20 accused, where 19 convicted by the trial court, Saket, New Delhi, “the communique issued on Tuesday by the Commission.
NHRC had registered a case based on a complaint in this case on 29 November 2018.
In addition to the commission, the trial court in Saket, New Delhi also recommend compensation for victims.
“The Commission has also been informed that the registration of NGOs, which run Muzaffarpur Balika Grih canceled and residential premises were also destroyed in accordance with a court order.
The whole investigation monitored by the Supreme Court and trial by the trial court concluded within the period specified,” the communique said.
