Homemakers face heat because of the price of vegetables soar

Coimbatore: Tomato prices have risen in the city for the past month.
Meanwhile it was sold with Rs 30 per kg a month ago, the price of Rs 120 / kg in the city retail store now.
At the Puram Puram market, tomatoes are sold with Rs 96 per kg on Tuesday.
Traders said there would be no significant decline in prices in the near future, because the rain still hit various parts of the country.

“While tomatoes are available on the wholesale market, the price is on the higher side.
I bought 1kg tomatoes with Rs 90 per kg and I sold it at Rs 96.
In the retail market, the same quality tomatoes were valued at rs 130 per kg,” said a person Traders from the farmer market.
V Murali, a retailer from Ramanathapuram, who sells tomatoes with Rs 120 per kg on that day, said all customers have reduced the amount of purchase (tomatoes).
“Almost all of them buy only less than 250g of tomatoes.
So, the sales have fallen.” Other vegetables are also expensive and housewives face heat.
Brinjal and Ladies fingers are valued at Rs 100 per kg in retail stores.
Other local vegetables are planted such as cluster nuts, five beans, pumpkin snakes, pumpkin ridges are also sold at higher prices.

R Shobana, Sukrawarpet residents, said the high price of tomatoes and other vegetables had hit them.
” Be a challenge for all housewives, who run their families with a limited budget.
“I have to be wiser in choosing vegetables for the next month.”
