Hong Kong: Hong Kong will tighten Covid-19 restrictions despite the lack of local outbreaks to be in harmony with China’s policy and increase the opportunity for quarantine-free travel between regions and mainland, said Carrie Lam leader on Tuesday.
This will increase contacts, such as requiring the use of the Crynomesafe application in the government place to record arrival and go visitors.
It will also tighten the rules of quarantine to issue only emergency workers or those in important industries such as logistics.
At present, those who are excluded from quarantine include airline crews, banking and insurance executives, directors of public companies, and crew members on cargo ships and passengers, among others.
Hong Kong does not have a major local outbreak since the beginning of the year, with almost no local transmission in recent months.
But most of it is closed for international travel, and travelers from countries considering high risk such as the US must serve quarantine 21 days.
At present, Hong Kong residents and non-residents who arrive in the city of mainland are not required to serve quarantine, provided they meet certain requirements, such as negative testing for Koronavirus before their arrival.
Instead, those who travel to mainland from Hong Kong are still required to serve 14 quarantine days at the designated hotel, followed by seven days from home quarantine.
Authorities say continuing quarantine-free journey with land is a top priority, compared to reopening international trips.
Lam said tightening restrictions became “more in line with land practice” needed to provide Chinese confidence to continue the cross-border of quarantine.
“If Hong Kong looses border control for people who come from abroad or adopt what other countries have done to live with the Covid-19 virus, the opportunity to continue the journey with the mainland will be reduced,” he said at every weekly.
The news conference where he wore a brace after recently destroyed his arm.
He rejected fears that Hong Kong restrictions would make him less attractive as an international business center.
“The main advantage of Hong Kong is located on the gateway to mainland China,” he said.
The mainland government has maintained a zero policy tolerance to pandemic, using locking, quarantine, and testing of mandatory to spray the Covid-19 plague quickly.
