Thiruvananthapuram: Famous theoretical physicist Thanu Padmanabhan and the Mr.
Green Revolution; MS Swaminathan was chosen for ‘Kerala Shastra Puraskaram 2021’ institutionalized together by the State Council of Kerala for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) and the Department of Science and Technology on Tuesday.
This award consists of cash prizes worth Rs 2 lakh, quotes and placards.
Mrs.
Swaminathan and Thanu Padmanabhan were chosen for the highlight of the country in science for achieving each in agricultural research and theoretical physics.
M S Swaminathan was born in Alappuzha in 1952.
He graduated in the zophone from the University College and completed a higher study at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute.
He developed high productivity seeds that are suitable for Indian environmental conditions and are multiplied among farmers.
Thanu Padmanabhan was born in Thiruvananthapuram in 1957.
He completed BSC and MSc with a gold medal from the University College.
He retired as the Dean of the center of the Inter University for astronomy and astrophysics and now serves as a leading professor in the center.
