Patna: There is no concession of the Hooch tragedy in Bihar dry when three more people died after consuming liquor on Tuesday – this time in Kanti in the Muzaffarpur district.
One person, who fell ill after consuming fake liquor, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kanti.
IG (Tirhut Range) Ganesh Kumar rushed to Kanti immediately after receiving information about Hooch’s death.
The incident, which occurred even though there was a hard action against liquor smugglers after Hooch’s death recently in Gopalganj, West Champaran and Samastipur Regency, had left the police with a red-faced.
At least 59 people lost their lives in seven Hooch cases in the state in less than a month.
According to the police source, 17 Hooch incidents since January this year has claimed at least 112 lives in the state.
“Family members of the victims of Kanti have told the police that they (those who died) had consumed liquor during campaigning for the election of Panchayat on November 7,” said Muzaffarpur SSP Jayant Kant to Ti by telephone.
He said the body of two victims was cremated by their family members without the police knowledge.
“Post-Mortem was carried out on the body of one of the victims.
The report was awaited.
It seems that the victim has consumed false liquor and fell ill on Monday,” SSP added.
DSP (West) Abhishek Anand told those who died on Tuesdays identified as Sumit Kumar aka Gopi Patel (25) from Sirissiya Village, Ashok Rai (50) Bariyarpur Village and Rambabu Rai (67) from Kantipuri Police, in all police Kanti area station.
“One Dilip Rai (53) Bariyarpur is undergoing treatment at a private hospital,” he added.
“Rambabu has died in the treatment at the hospital.
He has lost his vision and also suffered a stomach ache,” he said.
DSP added Sumit and Ashok was also in care at a private hospital, but their family members took them home where they died on Tuesday morning.
“Their bodies are cremated by family members before the police can do anything.
Only Rambabu’s body can be sent for post-mortem,” he said.
