Patna: Five people have died allegedly after consuming fake liquor at a party in the Muzaffarpur district since Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Avanish Kumar (32), Munna Singh (32), Dhiresh Kumar aka Gultu (40) and Avinash Kumar RAM (35) from Rupuli and Vipul Sahi (35) from neighboring village Vishahar Patti in the Saraiyya police station area.
Liquor is prohibited from Bihar.
The Hooch Party was held by one Amit Kumar to celebrate his victory as a member of Ward Number 12 of Rupuli Panchayat in the selection held recently.
“They consumed Hooch at one Dhiresh’s house on Wednesday night at a party thrown by Amit after winning the election of Panchayat.
Dhiresh has arranged a bag of liquor and bottles from different locations.
He was interested in displaying muscle strength in the village due to land disputes,” said Muzaffarpur SSP Jayant Kant to Ti by telephone on Friday.
He said Amit and the other three were arrested.
“We don’t have a report if more villagers are in care or sick because of the consumption of poisonous hooch,” he added.
The additional Saraiyya police station Sho Mohammad Kalamuddin said Avanish and Munna died on Thursday night while the other three died on Friday morning.
“Only Munna and Vipul can be taken to the hospital and die during treatment.
Tiga breaks die in their homes,” he said.
Kalamuddin also said they had all begun to complain about nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and some other problems since Thursday morning.
This is the second Hooch tragedy in the state within six days.
On Sunday night, four had died allegedly because of consuming Hooch in two villages under the Guthani police station in the Siwan District.
Overall, at least four HOOCH tragedies have been reported in this state this month.
One Ranjeet Kumar Singh (55) died on October 12 and while Safe Kumar (25) fell ill because the consumption of poisonous hooch in the village of Bukunhpur under the Rajapakar police station area in Vaishali.
One Hooch Death was also reported from Naugacchia, Bhagalpur this month.
