Patna: Not happy with a series of HOOCH tragedies in the last few days, Bihar CM Nith Kumar on Friday ordered hard action against people who made efforts to frustrate their government complete prohibitions on brewing, sales and consumption of liquor throughout the country.

Said while leading a high-level meeting held to review the status of the ban on the state.
The meeting, which was held at the Hall of CM “Sankalp”, was also attended by the prohibition of the State, Excise and Registration Minister Sunil Kumar, Chief Secretary of Tripurari Sharan, DGP Singhal SK, Main Secretary (Home-Cum-Print) Chaitanya Prasad and Secretary Secretary CM Kumar .
Expressing a displeasure of the recent HOOCH tragedy incident and the violation of the Law ban, CM requested senior officials to identify all officers and employees involved in mistakes in terms of prohibitions, and took strict action on identified people.
“The top clerk will ensure that no one is involved in a saved mistake.
Wherever Hooch’s death incident occurs in the last days, strict actions must be taken against guilty people,” Nitish told officers at the meeting.
CM also ordered the prohibition & excise department and police headquarters will hold a meeting on every alternative day to review the status of law enforcement on the entire state.
Nitish also said he would hold a “detailed review meeting” for the enforcement of the ban on November 16 after Chhath Mahaparv.
He also ordered for a broad awareness campaign to support the ban on liquor, Jal-Jeevan-Harfiyali Abhiyan and in protest against social crimes such as marriage marriage and children.
“There is a need for a broad bulk awareness campaign to make people aware of the dangers of consumption of liquor,” CM said and asked officials to prepare out the outline to start a mass awareness campaign at the division level.
CM also suggested awareness through wall paintings in all government offices and government housing buildings.
“All government and semi-government officials have once again taken promises for the sake of a total ban,” Nitish said.
