Shillong: Chairman of Conrad K Sangma said he hoped to make progress to find a permanent solution for the long-delayed Meghalaya-Assam border dispute, especially with a new dispensation at leadership in neighboring countries.
“We have new leadership in Assam.
So let’s take it forward.
Let there be an official meeting first and then we will decide.
Because, if we want to bring aspects of the past then it might only make it difficult for all things.
More,” Sangma said.
Sangma also said he had had a “unofficial discussion” about this problem with Mitra Assam Himanta Buswa Sarma.
“We have the view that with new leadership in Assam now have a very positive mindset, we will be able to move forward and try to find a friendly solution for disputes,” Sangma said while overcoming a press conference here on Monday.
“Even before the Head of Minister of Assam just took over his current position, we discussed the problem of limits,” he said.
Sangma said this problem was discussed “unofficial” between him and Sarma recently when the two families had dinner together.
“It was more than dinner we had because both families knew each other.
The bush dinner, we sat together for almost three hours and discussed many topics including border problems,” Sangma said.
“In one and a half and a half, the Minister of MNA, especially Union Amit Shah, has been very interested in these important issues for the country and the region as a whole must be resolved earlier,” he said.
“The Indian government has sent us messages and information asking us to move forward in this line.
Therefore, even from an official perspective, the Government Government has also initiated discussions and processes to find out if there is a peaceful solution for this problem.” He said , “The desired BUKUN minister was that before the 75th year of the independence of the state, all of these problems were not only with Meghalaya and Assam but Assam and other countries must also be resolved.” This would be our effort to complete this at that time in the time – the frame.
However, everything depends on how the conversation moves forward, “Sangma said.
