Omicron seems to be less severe but more transmitted than other Covid-19 tensions for now, the British government said, as a daily infection soared to other new records approaching 1.20,000.
An individual with Omicron is 50% to 70% less likely to be hospitalized, compared to Delta Strain, the British Health Security Agency (HSA) said Thursday.
They are also between 31% and 45% less likely to attend an emergency department with Omicron than with Delta.
However, data from HSA also shows that while booster increases protection, it starts reduced faster than Delta, and 15% to 25% lower than 10 weeks after the third dose.
The agency also warned that the nature of a very contagious strain can still cause a large number of severe diseases that extort health services.
He also said the analysis was “Introduction and very uncertain” because of a small number of omicron patients in hospitals and the fact that most of them were in the younger age group.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid said the information that appeared was “encouraging”, but he said it was “not too clear …
by how much the risk was reduced”.
On December 20, 132 people were treated at an English hospital with Omicron, including 14 – aged between 52 and 96 – died.
The British government said on Thursday it would not impose new restrictions before Christmas, but maybe do it soon after that.
Analysis follows research that provides some initial instructions that the Omicron variant may be lighter than the Delta version.
A study from London Imperial College estimates the risk of hospitalization for omicrons in the UK, finding people infected with tensions about 20% less likely to go to hospitals at all than those infected with the Delta variant, and 40% less likely to be treated at Hospital for one night or more.
A separate study from Scotland, by scientists at Edinburgh University and other experts, suggesting the risk of hospitalization is two-thirds with omicron than Delta.
Data from South Africa, where the variant was first detected, also suggested Omicron might be lighter there
