Thane: The case has been registered against private hospital staff in Thane for allegedly damaging the finger of a 14-year-old boy when trying to remove a metal ring, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in June, but a complaint was proposed recently.
The case below the IPC 337 section (causes injured by the actions that endanger the personal life or safety of others) and 338 (causing a sad pain by the actions that endanger the personal life or safety of others) registered on Monday night at the Naupada police station based on complaints submitted by the victim’s family, they said.
The police gave the defendant’s name as Swapnil Hotkar, who worked as a nobility boy in a private hospital here.
According to the police, a metal ring was trapped in one of the 14-year-old fingers of the boy on June 17, 2021.
Family members took him to a private hospital where he was given first aid and sent home, they said.
The next day, the defendant came to their house and with the help of an electric cutter trying to cut and remove the ring, but failed and damaged the boy’s finger, they said.
The ring was finally removed, but the finger then developed complications and doctors at another hospital here conducted an operation, police said.
Now, the doctor suspects the finger has developed a gangrene (whose symptoms include skin that changes color, severe pain, numbness) and this encourages his family to file a complaint, they add.
