Bhubaneswar: Police on Monday thwarted the deception of hospital employees to claim financial assistance from the Minister of Funds (CMRF) to the treatment of several patients and arrest him for violations.
The defendant was identified by the police as Dilip Kumar Beyera (38), assistant manager of the Department of Private Medical Records.
Police said Behera had sent three applications to the government to release around Rs 5.5 lakh from CMRF towards treatment of three poor patients.
During routine verification, the Ministry of Health found that documents sent by Behera were falsified.
Assistant Kumar Majhi, an assistant officer (ASO) from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, filed a complaint against Behera with Bharatpur police on August 24.
According to complaints, Behera has sent the names of three patients – Rabindra Kumar Barad, Parvati Sahoo and Dama Muduli, who are undergoing treatment in private hospitals, to consider under the CMRF.
“The Department of Health and family welfare has received applications, hospital bills and other supporting documents from three patients.
But they found that the document was false.
When they contacted the hospital, it was confirmed that Behera conspired with several colleagues and sent fake bills to claim money Under the CMRF, “said Deputy Commissioner of the Uma Police Shankar Dash.
The police were looking for other people, identified as Pradeep Malkick, which was the Behera Associate and worked as an insurance agent.
Mallick has approached three patients and convinced them to provide financial assistance from CMRF for their care.
With the help of Behera, he had collected original documents, including the patient’s inpatient bill, police said.
“They have faked the documents, given the wrong description of the patient’s disease so that the government will provide more money sanctions from CMRF and also annoying hospital bills.
As long as it was questioned, we found that patients were innocent and did not have a conspiracy hunched by the defendant , “said another police officer.
