Hospitals delay elective surgery

Bhubaneswar: The surge in Covid cases in Odisha has forced many hospitals in the city to postpone elective operations.
Some hospitals have also limited daily registration of patients in OPD to examine the spread of further viruses.
In addition, with several medical staff, including doctors and nurses with Covid, hospitals have no other way but to delay surgery.
“We give priority to the sense of saving operations and emergencies for those who can be postponed for several days.
This is for the benefit of the patient alone,” said Deputy Supervisor of the Capital Hospital, Dr.
Dhanajay Das City.
Sarojini Sahu, a 47-year-old heart patient, operating Angioplasty is scheduled on Wednesday, postponed without time limit.
“I came all ready for surgery but after reaching the hospital, we were asked to return and that they would tell us about the next date later,” said Sahu.
