Hotmail's Bhatia started a video job

New Delhi: Sabeer Bhatia may have lived through one of the largest achievements that can be dreamed of by TechPreneur India in terms of global success scores.
After selling a hotmail e-mail platform (developed along with the Co-Founder Jack Smith) to Microsoft for $ 400 million in 1998, Bhatia – then aged 30 years – managed to take a note.
However, the Bit Pilani alumni, who did his master from Stanford, had never really replicated Mega’s success again.
He returned now, with a new venture – Showreel – a social video platform that connects job seekers with potential employers.
Bhatia feels the showreel, which will help job seekers create professional videos about themselves in response to the questions caused by mentors or hirers, will help companies find benefits in each resume.
So, what Bhatia did in more than two decades after dealing with Microsoft.
He tried his hand across a lot of effort and invested in several technology companies, but no one approached Hotmail’s success.
Did he invest in Startup India? “No.
There are many efforts needed to invest in startups in India.
I did not directly invest in startup.
It was all through funds.
They made decisions about investment,” Bhatia told Toi.
The education system, only focuses on the value of assessment by not much emphasis on ‘investigations’ and curiosity, means less creativity, he said.
He praised the success of the Startup India and the stratospheric assessment obtained by several of them, but said the ‘original idea’ was still lost, which meant a lower chance to score a global success goal.
“All of our unicorns are imitators of what has been done in the West” in Bitcoin and Crypto, he sounds a warning note and feels them towards a ban.
