New Delhi: In one of the steep increases, the government on Monday boosted the price of LPG – or cooking gas supplied in a cylinder – equal to Rs 266 per refill but households were spared by maintaining domestic inventory costs unchanged.
Fuel retailers also raise the retail price of gasoline and diesel by 35 Paise per liter, pushing pump rates to fresh records as high-state and state taxes reinforced the impact of small revisions.
After the latest increase, the 19-kg LPG cylinder used by commercial companies such as hotels and restaurants Rs 2,000.50 respectively in Delhi, RS 1950 in Mumbai, Rs 2,073.50 in Mumbai and Rs 2,133 in Chennai.
The steep increase will have an impact on the ‘Mithaiwalalas’ restaurant and the celebration season.
Households will continue to pay Rs 899.50 for rechargeable 14.2 kg in Delhi and Mumbai, Rs 926 in Kolkata and Rs 915.50 in Chennai.
This will leave the gap of Rs 266 per cylinder at the current market level, which is expected to be borne by the supplier managed by the government as a government subsidy since May last year.
The LPG price is controlled by the government, unlike gasoline and diesel determined by the market.
The last domestic LPG price was appointed by Rs 15 per cylinder on October 6.
Cumulative, domestic cylinders have become more expensive by RS 205 each since January 1.
However, there is no help for motorists.
In Delhi, gasoline prices rose to Rs 109.69 per liter and diesel to Rs 98.42.
In Mumbai, gasoline reached a new record RS 115.50 and Diesel Rs 106.62.
In Kolkata gasoline sell for Rs 110.35 per liter and Diesel RS 101.56.
In Chennai, gasoline costs Rs 106.35 per liter and diesel Rs 102.59.
