New Delhi: Seven Indian citizens were one of the crews of 11 members on the UAE ship, Rwabee, who had been hijacked by Houthi fighters supported by Iran off the coast of Yemen.
Confirming development, the government urged Houthi to ensure the safety of the crew members and immediately released them.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said India had carefully monitored the development after the seizure of Rwabee from Port of Hodeidah (Yemen) by Houthi on January 2, 2022.
“We relate to companies that operate ships.
We also understand from companies and other sources that all crew members are India is safe, “said MEA spokesman Arinindam Bagchi.
“The Indian government does all efforts to secure their initial release.
India is concerned with intensification of the recent battle in Yemen …” He further said.
