How Amazon plans to bring employees back to offices

While there seems to be no clear end in sight for the global pandemic, parts of the world are slowly returning to some sort of normalcy.
Courtesy large-scale vaccination drives, some countries have started to ‘open’ up gradually and keeping that in mind tech companies have been devising plans to get employees back to offices in some form or the other.
Amazon has detailed plans on how its employees can come back to offices.
In an official blog, the company explained how it plans to move forward.
“Like all companies and organisations around the world, we’re managing every stage of this pandemic for the first time, learning and evolving as we go,” the company noted.
As part of the “learn” and “evolve” process, Amazon is offering employees a mix of working from home and offices.
“Our new baseline will be three days a week in the office (with the specific days being determined by your leadership team), leaving you flexibility to work remotely up to two days a week,” Amazon told its employees.
Amazon further said that certain employees who were working remote pre-pandemic — sales and customer service roles — will continue to work remotely.
For employees in roles that require onsite work, such as hardware engineers and frontline operations, these individuals will continue to work onsite.
“We’ve been thinking about how to balance our desire to provide flexibility to work from home with our belief that we invent best for customers when we are together in the office,” Amazon further told employees.
Other tech giants like Apple too have indicated that employees will come back to offices soon in some capacity or other.
Google too has said that it’s recreating office spaces and working out a “hybrid” working model for its employees.
