Earlier this year Apple launched an airtag – a tiny tracking device – in the segment where one of the biggest competitions tiles.
Six months after the airpods launch, CEO Tile said that the business was fine.
C J prober, CEO of tiles, told Wired that the company sold more than 40 million tile devices and the income rose in the first half of this year.
Prober said that the competition from Apple was unfair but the company saw a strong business momentum.
“Activation of third-party products, the big focus of us, we are up to more than 200 percent year-on-year,” said Prober, according to reports with Wired.
Before the airtags actually reach the market, tiles are one of the more popular tracking devices that users can buy.
In fact, tile products are also sold at Apple stores.
Prober describes it and says Apple is used to sell tile products but “kicked out of their store”.
He also said that Apple made changes to the iOS that was “obsolete” tile experience.
Apple, he said, did this to support airtags and find my network.
He said that Apple saved all the best platform capabilities for themselves, citing unlimited activation examples.
But apart from all that, said Prober, the business was very good.
However, it would be better if competition was fair, he added.
Apple, according to the report with the cable, denied every self-preference claim and said that it truly welcomed the competition.
