Gurgaon: Feed directly from CCTV cameras with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will soon be accessed by police from all locations, revealing GMDA officials, adding that city residents can also get access to several sections of the recording.
Authority is currently working on the development of applications for this purpose.
GMDA has a network of more than 1,100 CCTV cameras that include various locations in the city.
Only GMDA officials and police officers during a visit to the police officers can access recordings.
But the application will make recording accessible from a remote location.
“We strive to develop the application so that the police can access recordings from anywhere.
We will also try to make some parts of the recording that can be accessed by the public,” said Sudhir Rajpal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), GMDA.
At the Core Planning Cell Cell meeting this week, Rajpal recommends displaying CCTV recordings in the public domain after consulting the police commissioner office.
GMDA currently faces several “technology challenges” in implementing recommendations, but authorities “will try to overcome the same thing and make recordings available to the public”.
“The aim is to allow people to be more vigilant.
If someone is far from home for a month and wants to check what is happening outside the home, they can do it when the recording can be accessed.
The public is always the best guardian of his security, so we want the public to have more And more means and tools to ensure safety, “CEO said.
“Centric Citizen Infrastructure” has emerged as an area of focus of authority.
The CEO also said at the meeting that GMDA had to develop more “citizen-centric infrastructure” using available technology.
