New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the AAP government to answer how it would ensure liquor was not given to underage people in shipping houses with new excise policies.
“How will you verify the age of the buyer? You must answer this question.
You cannot say that you will not answer this,” Head of Justice Head D N Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh told Delhi’s government advice.
Initial advice told the court that protection would be given in policy every time it appeared and ID evidence, such as the aadhaar number or the other, it would be necessary.
The court heard the petition by BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma challenging the provision of liquor delivery under the new Delhi government excise policy.
Verma challenges provisions that argue that there is no age supervision process because it can be submitted to underage people and in public places.
Regarding the Petitioner’s opinion that the provision of Liquor houses will have a negative impact on children, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who represent the Delhi government, said, even if someone went to buy alcohol from a shop, he would take him home, so the impact would be the same That does not mean that they spoil children.
The government states that only changing modalities and home delivery systems are in various parts for several years.
Some petitions are waiting before the court on the new excise policy.
In the petition, which challenges the rules of 66 (6) Delhi’s excise rules (amendments) 2021, Verma proposed that the new policy was introduced at Delhi “still wrestling with a second wave of deadly covid and lack of acute drugs and vaccination.” The Delhi government too Ignoring the impact of carrying alcohol into domestic and child harassment households, the request added.
