How do you measure the age of the tree? Ax proposal is jammed: BMC

Mumbai: With the state government recently changed the protection of Maharashtra (urban areas) and preservation of the Tree Law, a proposal for ax trees for infrastructure projects and rebuilding seems to be heading towards Limbo.
The BMC park department has written a letter to the State Environment Department who asked him to issue clear guidelines about implementing AME-NDMments.
Identifying and marking heritage trees and measuring the age of the tree is the biggest challenge for BMC and if you cannot do it, some projects will be trapped due to lack of permission.
Maharashtra protection (urban area) and preservation of the Tree Law, which was changed in a two-day Monson session from the state legislature in July, stated that the State Tree Authority Maharashtra was formed to make decisions regarding tree protection and conservation.
The visionary law also stated that all proposals for felling more than 200 trees were five years old and above for any project and the inheritance trees must be referred to the state authority of the state of Maharashtra and not the BMC tree authority.
In this case, the State Authority recommends logging, local tree authorities can request a re-justification of decisions.
The local tree authority must ensure that the project is not divided into smaller parts to keep the number of trees below the specified threshold.
“How do we send a proposal to hack a 200-plus tree over five years old?” BMC asked his letter to the country.
“To find the age of the tree, the guidelines must be issued.
But until they are issued, how should we process the proposal for hacking less than 200 trees? How will the compensation tree plantation be carried out? Until this issue is clarified, should BMC process Appl-Ication to hack the bas- Ed on the existing guidelines? “Without a response from the state government, the Sewri-Worli connector, which will connect Mumbai Trans Harbor Link, and the re-development project proposed in Worli will be one of the first projects affected by new amendments.
More than 550 trees are proposed to be cut down and transplanted for these two projects.
Arborist Vaibhav Raje said he had sent a proposal to BMC to identify the inheritance trees by measuring their USAWI – ifically and was waiting for his nod.
“The age of the estimate of the tree can be measured using scientific tools.
We can also implement a unique assessment system for inheritance trees.
Comprehensive tree databases can be made with their location, recommendations for treating and inheritance classes.
BMC must also develop a system where people can nominate inheritance trees in their area.
