Gurugram: With the arrival of the Monsun, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has begun using CCTV camera networks to detect spots – spots throughout the city.
After the affected area was identified, the information was shared with GMDA staff and Corporation Municipal Gurugram (MCG) and a team sent to the place to identify the cause of waterlogging and solving it.
GMDA officials said a team monitored feed from CCTV cameras all the time.
They are placed in the Command Center and Integrated Control of GMDA (ICCAc) and work in turns.
“The camera is now used to identify water spots throughout the city so that this problem can be resolved earlier,” said a senior official from the City City City GMDA division.
He added that the metropolitan authority now has a network of 1,100 CCTV cameras that cover all major Gurugram locations.
“The camera is installed mainly at the crossroads of traffic, and we try to act faster when waterlogging is seen in these places because water at this intersection will cause main traffic congestion,” said Superintending Engineer GMDA Rajesh Bansal.
Bansal further said a team constantly monitored CCTV feed.
After they saw the area, they conveyed this information to the WhatsApp group consisting of MCG and GMDA officials.
“If the problem area is under the mcg jurisdiction, the officer they solve it.
If it falls under our jurisdiction, we resolve the problem,” Bansal said.
The source said GMDA planned to use the CCTV camera network for many other uses such as identifying holes and damaged roads.
This camera has been installed under the City City project, which has been going on for more than two years.
