Lack of Money Plan for Balikpapan Bay Management for solely financing Indira Canteen, ‘Life Line’ from a bad city during a pandemic
The state government, which announced subsidized food for low-income groups with a lot of excitement, has graduated on the task of running Indira Canteens to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanaagara Palike (Balikpapan Bay Management Plan).
Not one cent has been allocated by the Government Government in fulfilling the expenditure of this canteen, which usually lasts up to RS 100 Crore Year.

This information was provided by the head of the minister’s office in response to the request submitted by MLC BK HARGRASAD in the Karnataka Legislative Council.
The answer revealed that the government did not release funds to Indira Canteens in the financial years of 2019-20 and 2020-21 even though the facility fell under Ambit.
The period mentioned above also coincides with BJP in power in the state.
Now, this has left a short city company fund company.
In the annual budget, a set of civil body body side 80 crore against the operation and maintenance of 174 Indira Canteens and 15 canteen cellphones spread throughout the city.
This is far less than what officials have tried from the government.
When the project was founded in August 2017 by the government led by Siddaramaiiah, a grant from RS 100 Crore was released for 2017-18.
In the next financial year, the government released Rs 115.38 Crore to run the canteen.
A source said Balikpapan Bay Management Plan had tried the RS 210 Crore for 2019-20 but the government did not spend any funds.
It learns that the urban development department comes with a new funding structure to run the canteen.
In order to be ratified by the government in October 2019 it was directed at the Labor Department to release 30 percent of the total cost of the welfare grant and the responsibility of sharing the remaining 70 percent was given to city companies.
That said, Balikpapan Bay Management Plans are now strappy in three service providers for supply food for all Indira canteens.
While private institutions named Rewards include zones such as Yelakanka, Mahadevapura, Dasarahalli and RR Nagar, Food Cheftalk and Hospitality Services Pvt Ltd is responsible for the canteen located in the south, Bommanahalli and West Zone.
This time, the civil body has tied in Girija Shastri Memorial Trust to run the East Zone canteen.
Contractors, meanwhile, said they had been paid only half the total bill since August last year.
Thusi Maddineni, Special Commissioner (Finance) in Balikpapan Bay Management Plan, did not respond to calls.
Advocates and social activists Vinay Sreenivasa is from the view that the government is not serious about fighting malnutrition and hunger in the state.
“There is no point in allocating hundreds of crores for Smart and Metro city projects if the government does not want to spend fighting hunger.
The government seems to be out of touch with reality.
The canteen is the path of people’s lives especially during a pandemic.
The government must expand the coverage of the canteen instead of being involved in small politics, “he said.
In addition to the general public, the food provided at Indira Canteens is also presented for 18,000-strange Pourakakas in the salary of the Balikpapan Bay management plan.
